Campers Cove Campground Off-Site Options:

When you are camping at Campers Cove, there are also several off-site activities within just a few minutes drive.

Both Point Pelee and Hillmans Marsh offer great experiences in birding, with over 370 species identified. It is the best location in inland North America to observe the northward migration of songbirds, and only 15 minutes drive from Campers Cove.

Autumn migration is generally from June through December, where species such as Greater Yellowlegs and Yellow Rumped Warblers are taking 4 to 5 months for their migration. You can also observe Golden Eagles, Peregrine Falcons and many other species of birds.

There are also 17 wineries in Essex County and wine tours are available.

If you like to get a few rounds of golf in, there are many courses nearby. Whether you are looking for a 9 hole course, or more challenging 18 hole or 27 hole course.

If you enjoy festivals and special events there are several you can enjoy through the summer months.

We also have a few quaint restaurants in the town of Wheatley. Just minutes away from the campground you can enjoy the Lucky Wok and The Car Barn Restaurant.

Take a ride just southeast of Chatham to the RM Classic Car Exhibit just off the 401 and highway 40. Here you will find a world class display of over 60 rare and valuable vehicles.

Being surrounded by the great lakes, with our beach on the shores of Lake Erie, the Detroit River to the west and Lake St. Clair to the north, Essex County and Chatham-Kent offer beautiful hot spots for sunbathing, boating and fishing. A wide variety of activities for all ages!
